Hamilton High School - National Honor Society: Application

Application Process and Forms

2024 - 2025 School Year

Invitations to Apply: All incoming juniors and seniors that have a 3.5 or higher (who aren't already in NHS) were sent an email invitation on Friday, August 16th. This is an invitation to apply to National Honor Society and does not guarantee membership. Emails were sent to students from Ms. Jacque Gorski.

Applicants will fill out an application documenting the following:

  • Volunteer and service activities and approximate hours in each
  • Involvement in clubs, sports, activities in organizations outside of school
  • Leadership positions in school, work or the community
  • Recognition, awards, or work experience

In addition you will need to:

  • Secure 1 community member recommendation and 1 faculty member recommendation (forms linked below)
  • Complete a one page essay about your desire to join National Honor Society

Additional Member Requirements:

  • Completion of 20 service hours following the Hamilton Chapter guidelines.
  • $25 annual HHS Chapter dues
  • Annual fundraising by all members - Sell Kwik Trip car wash cards OR pay for the equivalent "buyout"

Please start with the directions provided in the NHS Application Checklist to ensure a complete NHS Application Portfolio. Drop Application Portfolios in the NHS bin (located on the counter in the library) no later than Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 2:30. 

Letters of acceptance or regret will be sent out Sept. 20th

  • NHS Junior Application 
  • NHS Senior Application  
  • NHS Membership Agreement and Code of Conduct
  • Community Member Recommendation (send this FORM to your community member to fill out by 9/13/24 5pm)
    • (Community Recommendation- 1 recommendation required - completed by a leader of community-based activities or organizations in which you have been involved outside of HHS, or your employer. (Note that neighbors and friends of the family do NOT fall into the category of leaders or sponsors of community groups/activities).
  • Hamilton High School Faculty Recommendation  (send this FORM to your HHS faculty member with a introduction and kind request to fill the form out. Allow them up to two weeks to complete this. A faculty member could also be your high school coach who is employeed by Hamilton School District. **Note: the NHS Faculty Council cannot recommend you for NHS these staff members include: Ms. Farrell, Ms. Schneider, Ms. Schumaker, Mr. Seely, Mr. Wunschel.
