Attendance will be taken during the meeting.

Hamilton Chapter of National Honor Society

The Hamilton NHS Chapter mission is to serve, as a team, with student leadership opportunities.

Eligibility and Membership:
Membership in the Hamilton Chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) is by invitation only. Incoming juniors and seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher will be invited to apply via email in early August. Invitations will be sent by Mrs. Gorski, the NHS advisor, with students blind copied for confidentiality.

Application Process and Requirements:
Selected students will receive application instructions and deadlines in the invitation email. Detailed information regarding eligibility, selection criteria, and member responsibilities can be found in the Hamilton Chapter NHS Handbook.

2025–2026 Service Commitment:

  • Members are required to participate in peer tutoring during the advisement period. The number of sessions will be determined and communicated prior to the start of the school year.
  • Peer tutoring completed outside of this advisement structure will not be eligible for NHS service hours.
  • Tutoring at approved elementary school sites will continue to qualify for service credit.
  • Individual service hour option will be max of 4 hours.
  • Total service hours = 20
  • Service hours will only be recognized after a student has been officially inducted into the Hamilton Chapter of NHS and has attended the required orientation meeting.

Incoming Junior Application Requirements:

  • Participation in 5 different co-curricular or community activities
  • Completion of 2 significant leadership positions
  • Involvement in 4 different volunteer activities
  • 4 recognitions or work experiences (excluding academic honor roll awards)
  • Essay
  • 2 letters of recommendation:
    • One from an academic teacher
    • One from a community member
  • Signed Code of Conduct agreement
  • $25 dues

Incoming Senior application:

  • Participation in 6 different co-curricular or community activities
  • Completion of 3 significant leadership positions
  • Involvement in 5 different volunteer activities
  • 5 recognitions or work experiences (excluding academic honor roll awards)
  • Essay
  • 2 letters of recommendation:
    • One from an academic teacher
    • One from a community member 
  • Signed Code of Conduct agreement
  • $25 dues

  • Projects focus on enhancing our school and community collectively 
  • Less individualized service seeking (4 hours max individual service)
